Training Masters-Level STEM Professionals to Address the Nations Water Resource Issues (S-STEM Fellowships)

Supported by the U.S. National Science Foundation

Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Program

Water, food, and ecosystem insecurities are increasing due to climate change, population growth, and depletion of natural resources. Widespread water resource challenges are at the heart of many of these issues, requiring interdisciplinary training at the graduate level for professional advancement. These issues disproportionately affect low-income individuals throughout the world, for whom structural barriers to graduate education can also limit their opportunities to receive the advanced training needed to address these challenges. The Water Resources Graduate Program is excited to offer graduate support to incoming MS students from low-income backgrounds. We expect to offer about six to eight S-STEM fellowships each year supported by the United States National Science Foundation.
